“CrossFit Chaparral has showed me a community that supports one another no matter where they are in their physical journey and that i have a place to be myself and to work on myself without judgment. CrossFit has taught me to love myself and respect my body for what it accomplishes. That I can celebrate my body even on the bad days. CrossFit has helped me fall in love with myself and all that I’m capable of.”

What in your life has changed since finding CrossFit/ CrossFit Chaparral?

So much in my life has changed since joining CrossFit, specifically CrossFit Chaparral. I’ve always had so much anxiety when I came to working out, especially in front of people, but I knew that working out made me feel good about myself and my body.

About Brittany

Q: How did you find CrossFit/ CrossFit Chaparral and how long have you been a part of the family?

I found CrossFit when I graduated from college in 2018. My sister had been doing CrossFit for years and begged me to do it with her. I was very hesitant because I had always had a lot of anxiety when it came to the gym. I gave in and went and to this day will name it as the best thing I have ever done for myself.

The community that comes with CrossFit is the community I had been searching for for a very long time. When I moved to Phoenix almost 4 years ago now, I knew I needed to find a gym with the same sense of community. I was nervous to join a new box but I emailed Stephan just to drop in and the second I walked in I was overwhelmed with welcome and joined immediately. I’ve been doing CrossFit for almost 5 years now and I’ve loved every minute of it!

Q: What is your favorite CrossFit movement/ exercise and why?

Favorite CrossFit movement has got to be squats (this does not include wall balls, air squats, or thrusters). I’m talking a good heavy back squat day. I love deadlifting as well and am learning to love cleans!

Q: Do you have a motto or phrase that helps push and motivate you?

Slow progress is still progress

Q: What is your life like outside of CrossFit Chaparral? Job? Family?
Travel?

My life outside CrossFit is “boring”! Lol! I’m almost finished with my Masters degree in Marriage and Family therapy and will soon be able enter my career as a Marriage and Family Therapist! I love being outside and going on the occasional hike. I get to Marry my best friend in June of this year and soon start our own family. For right now, we have 4 fur children whom we love more than anything! I spend as much time as I can with my family up north on our family owned cattle ranch, just ranchin’ around!

Q: What is your favorite style of music? Any favorite songs right now?

I love all music really (except screamo, lol)! My favorite song right now is probably “Sun to Me” by Zach Bryan!

Q: What is something we might not know about you?

I dabble in photography! Something I get from my mamma. She is a professional photographer and growing up I always got to go with her to take pictures of things and it’s something that I get to share with her!
